Olympic Bus Tops Mosaics

Please take a look at an article about my most recent mosaic project.

The year 7 students at Acland Burghley have by all accounts been enjoying a summer fever of Olympic themed projects and work. The students have created a new series of works following on from their initial Arts Award Bus-Tops project in June as well as creating a series of mosaics lead by artist Sally Kendall, inspired by the red and black colour scheme of the Bus-Tops screens which will have a permanent home at the entrance to the school.

Bus-Tops is part of Artists taking the lead, a project at the heart of the London 2012 Cultural Olympiad, funded by Arts Council England. Our project is one of 12 commissions, one for each nation and region of the UK, to celebrate the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Bus-Tops are screen based sculptural installations to be installed on the roofs of bus shelters across London, forming a city-wide exhibition platform for artists to show their work. Currently in prototyping and development (as of August 2010), the installations will be in place from January 2012 and remain in place until the end of the Paralympic Games in September 2012.
